When I first met Bindi and her owner, Carol, their situation was one many dog owners can relate to: a reactive dog and a household filled with challenges. Bindi's reactivity extended to almost everything—something as simple as a coke can could set her off.
Walks were incredibly difficult, with barking and spinning triggered by people, dogs, and cars. Even at home, Bindi struggled, reacting to people standing in doorways, television programs, and more.
Our work began by addressing Bindi’s outdoor reactivity. This wasn’t just about training commands but about building trust—between Bindi and me, and between Bindi and owner, Carol. Progress came steadily, week by week, thanks to Carol’s incredible dedication. She not only committed to the training exercises but also embraced learning about Bindi’s behaviour and needs.
The results have been remarkable. Bindi now walks confidently by the roadside, calm and composed around most dogs with management, though she still keeps a watchful eye on black Labradors and poodles. Carol, armed with knowledge and confidence, is more than ready to continue supporting Bindi in any moments that require extra guidance.
The changes at home have been just as transformative. Carol can now watch TV without worry, even enjoying ball sports and animal programs that used to be major triggers for Bindi. The once-stressful guarding of doorways has eased, and Bindi has blossomed into a calmer, more relaxed companion.
Carol and Bindi’s journey has been truly inspiring, and it exemplifies the power of patience, understanding, and commitment. After two months of hard work, they’ve built a deeper bond than ever before—a bond that reflects everything I envisioned when I started Bond Furever.
I wish Carol and Bindi all the best in their bright and happy future. Watching their relationship thrive has been a joy and a reminder of why I love doing what I do. Here's to many more peaceful walks and cosy evenings together! 🥹
